Living and Working in Kuwait

More
Kuwait CityOur Managing Director Anna and Senior Recruitment Consultant Jim are currently travelling the Gulf Region - meeting with new as well as existing clients across three different countries. They spent the last two days in Kuwait - a popular expat destination for decades. In fact, 1.2 million residents (of the overall population of 2.6 million) are registered as foreigners.

With its mix of Western liberalism and strict Islam, Kuwait provides a great intercultural experience and will give you the chance to get to know Arab traditions and culture.

Climate
Summers (April to October) are hot and humid with very little rain. Winters (November to March) are cool with limited rain. Springs are cool and pleasant.

Activities
Sailing and scuba-diving are popular activities, as is horse riding. There are plenty of health & spa clubs offering a wide variety of facilities and activities such as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, gyms, bowling and even karate.

Sahara Kuwait Resort offers an 18-hole Golf course built to PGA championship standards. Floodlit holes allow players to pursue their passion even at night, avoiding summer’s heat and dust.

If you are looking to make friends or help a good cause, you could join a book club or volunteer for a local charity such as Operation Hope or PAWS Kuwait.

Tea Restaurants
There is a great range of food available when eating out and almost all places will deliver to your door free of charge - so you will never go hungry in Kuwait. You will find everything from sushi to Indian flavours to American food chains and great local cuisine. Restaurants like the Palm Palace offer outdoor tents, shisha smoking, bread making in an old stone oven, and, after your meal, a bit of Arabain coffee served on pillows.

Shopping
One of the main forms of entertainment in Kuwait! Malls provide all the main high street labels and the traditional souqs are always worth a visit. Souq Al-Mubarakiya sells all sorts of traditional clothes, accessories and kitchenware. There are several fish markets , where you can get a real bargain on a fresh catch. For something more extraordinary, head to the Gold or the Persian Carpet Souq.

Education
There are several schools in Kuwait with a British/American curriculum, have a look here for a comprehensive list.
