Geraldton, situated in the Midwest Region of the State is a lovely coastal town some 260m (420km) south of the State's capital, Perth. Locals describe the climate as 'Mediterranean ' and the surface temperature of the sea often exceeds 25 degrees Celsius. Geraldton offers beachside living alongside a fantastic civic and rural context. It is a major minerals port and the town has grown affluent during the mining boom. Geraldton is famous for its sailing, kite, wind and wave surfing. Culturally it is a major centre of aboriginal art and heritage.
The West Australian Country Health Service is the largest in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, delivering comprehensive health care to more than 540,000 people including 49,000 Aboriginal people across a 2.5 million square kilometre area.
The services’ hospital in Geraldton is well staffed and well resourced. It has 73 beds with 20 Consultant specialists. As well Paediatrics, units include EM, Obstetrics, Oncology, Rehab, Renal etc.
As Consultant Paediatrician FRACP you will undertake direct clinical care of paediatric patients in in-patient and outpatients settings. Further, you will support and educate relevant medical staff working with children and their families.
Applicants must have FRACP and those with experience in neonatology will be highly regarded. Applicants with experience in providing Indigenous primary health care will also be looked upon favourably.
