Head Medical are working with this New Zealand District Health Board on a project to build capacity and expertise within Women’s Health by recruiting 4 x O&G Consultants and 5 x O&G Registrars, for a fixed term of one year, initially, although for interested parties, there may be scope to make this a longer term move by mutual agreement. We are seeking candidates who can be in post early in 2016, although will be open to discussion on start dates throughout 2016.

The Health Board provides services to a district population of 365,000, and is also the tertiary service provider for the region, with approximately 5400 deliveries per annum. An area of special interest would be welcome, and most can be accommodated, for example there is scope to develop both Maternal Fetal Medicine and Gynae-Oncology services. There are also opportunities to take on non-clinical portfolios such as risk management, clinical governance, service development and labour ward management. All doctors will participate in the Obstetrics on call register. This is an opportunity to sharpen your professional skills and make a real change, working with an extremely supportive management team, to shape, develop and contribute to an excellent and vital service. Full support will be provided by Head Medical on medical registration and immigration. Financial and practical relocation assistance will also be provided to successful candidates.

The Location

The regional city of Hamilton (population 156,000), offers an attractive lifestyle. Situated on the banks of the Waikato River, river, this pleasant city has beautiful parks and gardens, a vibrant city centre and regularly plays host to major sporting and cultural events. Good quality housing is readily available and very affordable; Schools (public and private) have an excellent reputation, and there is a thriving university and student population.  There is also a local airport with many daily domestic flights.  When you want to go further afield, New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland is a mere 90 minutes away and is also the closest international airport.  

The central location, also gives access to many unique and wonderful attractions. Within an easy drive are some of the North Island’s best surf beaches and most beautiful coast line and you’ll be surrounded by beautiful country side, made famous as The Shire in the Lord of The Rings films. Other possibilities include the beautiful Waitomo Caves, filled with glow worms and underground rivers, the famous Cathedral Cove or Raglan Beach, swimming with wild dolphins in the Bay of Plenty, skiing and hiking at Tongariro Natural Park, Lake Taupo and the geothermal delights of Rotorua. You might also find yourself taking in an exhibition, concert or sporting event in Auckland or Hamilton, skydiving, hot air ballooning, hiking, fishing or sailing.  One thing’s for sure you will never be stuck for something to see or do on New Zealand’s fabulous North Island. This is a perfect place to experience the famously high Kiwi quality of life, whilst also enjoying a fresh professional challenge.
