Consultant Paediatrician FRACP
- Up to AU$405,000 plus additional benefits.
The remuneration for this exciting position is based on experience. Your cash component will be up to AU$405k plus 9.5% superannuation, tax free salary packaging, professional development and study leave, flexible leave, rental subsidies, district allowance (and relocation).
You will hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and be absolutely passionate about paediatric and neonate care. The medicine in the Pilbara is varied and challenging with most inpatients being Aboriginal children. Providing inpatient and outpatient care you will also work occasionally at community outreach centres, manage the NET Service, supervise junior medical staff, facilitate student teaching and mentoring. Your stakeholder management and communication skills will be first class as you will liaise Child Protection, Schools, Police and Youth Justice and participate regularly in providing telehealth advice.
Ideally, you will have experience or a very strong understanding of remote and Aboriginal health.
The Pilbara covers a region of 507, 896 km² (including offshore islands) and is WA’s second most northern health region, with the Indian Ocean to the west and Northern Territory to the east. The region incorporates two Health Districts – West and East Pilbara, with the vast proportion of the population residing in the west. The large support hospitals are Hedland Health Campus, Nickol Bay in Karratha. Other hospital services include Newman, Onslow, Roebourne and Tom Price hospitals. Further there are 9 community health centres that also service the region.
The Pilbara region has seen huge % growthin population in recent years during the mining boom and is now approx. 60,000. The region has a high Aboriginal population with a younger age structure than the non-Aboriginal population.
