The Role
This leadership position will enjoy the benefits of a recently built AU$120m state of the art medical facility that has been designed and built to meet the needs of the exceptional growth in prosperity that has occurred in Western Australia in recent times.
The location has a current population of circa 34,000 (2011) which is expected to grow to 55,000 by 2026. The new medical facility will also provide support to smaller regional facilities with the wider south west region also expected to grow its population at similar levels.
This unique position will task you with leading a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive emergency services in the new state of the art hospital. As Consultant in Emergency Medicine, you will promote a high level of patient quality and safety as well as leading, mentoring and educating Senior Medical Practitioners and other junior medical staff whilst collaborating with the executive group.
The Location
The city and its surrounding catchment areas is one of the fastest growing areas of Western Australia. Nestled in a sheltered bay, it lies above the region's exceptional wine growing area - the Margaret River, renowned for near perfect wine growing conditions that produce exceptional Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons.
The area is also famous for unlimited outdoor (water and land) activities that proximity to the sea and national parks inspire. The town has a regional airport and is itself only is a 2 hour drive to Perth which has an international terminal servicing the UK, Singapore, Bali and South East Asia (amongst others). The region has an enviable mix of high quality public and private education institutions that also include at University level.
Requirements
It is essential that you will have experience within a recognised competent authority country - United Kingdom, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Ireland. Naturally, your postgraduate experience in general medicine, emergency medicine and hospital practice will be extensive. Further, you will be committed to the continuing education of yourself and - importantly - your staff with first class communication skills that can facilitate first class telephone and video conferencing consultations to regional health employees. Further skills must include a commitment to raising quality and managing clinical risk.
