We are currently seeking a General Surgeon with a Breast Surgery Sub - Specialty interest to join a team of six Surgeons in this stunning subtropical location.

The Role
This position is located in the 223-bed base hospital, which also provides secondary care services for 3 smaller regional hospitals further North. The successful candidate will participate in weekly clinics, theatre lists, supervise teaching of junior staff and be part of the on-call roster. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of 6 Surgeons and 2 Urologists, 6 Surgical Registrars and 3 House Officers who have a strong commitment to training. The department works cooperatively and meets fortnightly. There are weekly Radiology meetings and regular Morbidity, Journal Club and Histology review meetings. Auckland, as the tertiary referral centre, is only a two-hour drive away, and there is ready access to their expertise by both phone and as a centre for continuing care.
We are particularly interested in General surgeons with a sub-specialty interest in Breast Surgery.
Consultants in New Zealand are well remunerated and enjoy good working conditions and an excellent work life balance. Competitive salaries, favourable working conditions, six weeks annual leave plus a generous Continuing Medical Education allowance of NZ$16,000 per annum, plus 2 weeks conference leave are standard. There is also a strong camaraderie between staff and a good social life for staff and their families.
