GP - Taupo, New Zealand - 12 month Locum

The Role
8 sessions per week GP position available in a practice in Taupo on the North Island of New Zealand. This is a 6 month Locum placement starting as soon as possible and the practice would also welcome GP's who were able to commit to a 12 month position. Salary is $170k NZ (£87k) with 5 weeks paid annual leave (pro-rata).

It is a teaching practice with a patient base of around 13,000. The practice is a modern building with 8 consulting rooms and 6 nurses rooms. The practice is a member of the local PHO offering lower patient fees, open from 8am – 5.30pm. You will be required to take part in an OOH roster until 10pm and weekends shared with all practices in the area.

The practice is a teaching partner of The University of Auckland with several of the partners being heavily involved in training medical students within the surgery.

The Location
The practice is located in the Central North Island town of Taupo which is on the shores of beautiful Lake Taupo. It is New Zealand’s biggest lake and offers swimming in pristine waters, relaxing in hot pools, snow skiing on a volcano or walking in native bush. You can visit the mighty Huka Falls or enjoy jet boating on a raging river.

Taupo has a population of 22,000 which increases significantly during summer months. There is a genuinely friendly local culture. This is a great opportunity to have a working holiday for 1 year in an amazing environment and experience the real New Zealand.
