Head Medical is delighted to announce that we have been contracted by Sidra Medical and Research Centre to assist them in recruiting senior medical professionals for their exciting new medical center in Qatar.
Sidra is a not for profit, private academic health centre, expected to open in Doha, Qatar in early 2013. This will be the Gulf’s first academic medical centre, designed to the best international standards. Sidra will provide world class, patient-focused, clinical services for women and children, medical education, and biomedical research in an ultra-modern, all-digital facility. Sidra will work closely with and be affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, providing valuable opportunities for research and learning. It will encompass three essential missions:
- World Class Patient Care
- Medical Education
- Biomedical Research

The medical centre will not only provide world class patient care but will help build Qatar's scientific expertise and resources. Cornell University, a member of the prestigious Ivy League in the USA, has brought its top notch program of medical education to Qatar and the new hospital will be a primary teaching facility for Weill Cornell Medical College, providing students with the opportunity to develop their clinical skills and participate in research in an ultra-modern facility, as beautiful as it is technologically advanced. Joint academic posts with Weill Cornell are available for those who are suitably experienced and qualified. It is anticipated that at least 51% of Medical Staff will hold joint academic and clinical posts with Cornell, ensuring this is a centre of academic and clinical excellence.
The hospital will have 388 beds with infrastructure to expand to 550 beds and is funded by a US$7.9 billion endowment, the largest endowment of a medical and research centre anywhere in the world.
