Queensland

Queensland occupies the north-eastern section of mainland Australia and is bordered by the Coral Sea and Pacific Ocean. The state is Australia's second largest by area and the country's third most populous. This population is concentrated in South East Queensland, which includes the capital Brisbane, Logan City, Ipswich, Toowoomba, and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. Other major regional centres include Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Mount Isa. Queensland is often nicknamed the Sunshine State, since it enjoys warm weather and a sizeable portion of the state is in the tropics.

Queensland has 13 regions for you to explore, each offering its own amazing diversity of attractions and experiences. Whether you are seeking the tranquillity of the rainforest, the colours of the reef, the excitement of the city, the fun of the coast or the characters of the outback, there is a region uniquely Australian and distinctively Queensland to suit all tastes.

The climate along the Queensland coast ranges from hot and humid in the far north, to comfortable cool temperatures in the southeast. The inland west has low rainfall with hot summers and mild, dry winters.
