In May 2007 the New Zealand Government passed the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act, which requires anyone providing New Zealand immigration advice to be licensed (unless exempt). The act established the Immigration Advisers Authority which manages the licensing of Immigration Advisers, both within New Zealand and offshore. The intention and purpose of this Act is to promote and protect the interests of consumers receiving immigration advice, and to enhance the reputation of New Zealand as a migration destination, by providing for the regulation of persons who give immigration advice.
From 4 May 2010, the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007 requires that anyone who provides immigration advice, whether onshore or offshore, must have a licence from the Immigration Advisers Authority, unless they are exempt from the requirement to hold a licence, and Immigration New Zealand will no longer accept applications from advisers who are not licensed.
Our New Zealand regulatory consultant, Gemma Brydon, holds such a licence from the Immigration Advisors Authority and is permitted to provide immigration advice relating to temporary work and visitor applications, as well as permanent residency applications via the Skilled Migrant category. This ensures that we are committed to the delivery of advice which is consistent with the intention and purpose of the Licensing act, above, and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to improving the standards of customer service we are able to offer to our clients.
