Australian Capital Territory

The Australian Capital Territory was created to house the nation’s capital Canberra and is the country’s smallest self-governing internal territory. It is an inland enclave in New South Wales, situated in bushland. Canberra, the urban centre of the ACT, is a thriving modern city of 325,000 people with stylish restaurants, hip bars, boutique shopping, fun for the kids and a busy calendar of events and festivals. The surrounding rural areas and stretches of natural bushland are home to charming rural townships such as Tharwa and Hall, award-winning wineries, and stunning nature parks.

Just a 45 minute drive from the city, you’ll find the wildlife, walking trails and Aboriginal rock art of Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and Namadgi National Park in the northern Australian Alps.  Drive the Poacher’s Trail to the wineries, farms and galleries of the surrounding scenic countryside. Hike past wildflowers and glacial lakes in the Snowy Mountains and spot dolphins from pristine beaches on the South Coast.
