Auckland figures in global top five cities

New Zealand’s biggest city figures as joint fourth-best city to live in the world, alongside Vancouver in Canada, according to Mercer’s 2010 Quality of Living Survey.

The Mercer’s 2010 Quality of Living Survey covers 221 cities and ranks them based on 39 criteria, including socio-economic, environmental, health, education and transport factors.

It ranks Auckland  as the best city to live in the Asia-Pacific region, with 107.4 points. Wellington, New Zealand’s capital, remained in its 2009 position, ranking 12th.

In the global ranking, the city is on par with Vancouver, Canada, retaining the overall position it achieved last year.
